MASSACHUSETTS (OCN) — Diamonds are forever but not Jute. So what is Jute?
Jute is one of the cheapest vegetable fiber that is long, soft and shiny that can be spun into coarse, strong threads. Here in North America, it is known as burlap.
Manufactures use jute to make cloth for wrapping bales of raw cotton, and to make sacks and coarse cloth. The fibres are also woven into curtains, chair coverings, carpets, area rugs, hessian cloth, and backing for linoleum.
In the United Kingdom, a business woman by the name of Sandra Thompson uses it to create environmentally-friendly coffins. Sounds strange? Well, its not as jute is is 100% biodegradable.
